On the 29th of March 2017 (the 88th day of the year, also known as International Piano Day) I started piano-blog.nl. This website gives me the chance to combine to hobbies. You can guess what they are: writing and playing the piano.
When I was a child I wanted to learn to play the piano, but without a piano at home it was kind of impossible. So I had to postpone this “until I grew up…” Postponing is one of the things I am very good at, but when I was 26 I decided: Now I have grown up! So I bought a (digital) piano and started taking lessons. The people who I told about this, responded in 2 different ways: :
– Ok, that’s nice, but aren’t you way too old to start now?
– Respect! I would love to learn that some time as well.
Both groups of people motivated me to start this blog. The first group made me a bit insecure when I just started, but I want to proove to them that you are never too old to learn new things. (And hey, I am just at the beginning of my 30’s)
When it comes to the second group op people I would like to encourage them to do whatever you want to do without thinking that you might be too old. Whether it is about learning to play the piano or an instrument or just something totally different: just go for it! I hope this blog can motivate you to do so.
Besides that this blog is also my personal notebook in which I write about what I have learned or want to learn. Mainly about playing the piano but also about (classical) music in general. On this blog I take you with me on my journey.
And last but certainly not least: I hope to learn a lot from my readers. I am just a beginner, so feel free to respond to my posts, even if (no, especially if) you don’t agree with what I wrote. You can also send me an email. You can reach me via firstname.lastname@example.org.
One more thing: I am working on translating my posts into English. English is not my native language, so there will probably some (grammar) mistakes in my blogs. I apologise for this in advance.
